Journey of Solidarity: Sagarika Ghose on TMC Delegation’s Visit to Srinagar

Srinagar ( Jammu and Kashmir ) [ India ], May 22 (ANI): TMC MP Sagarika Ghose emphasised that a five-member Trinamool Congress ( TMC Public representatives from Bengal have arrived in Kashmir for a visit marked by "solidarity, empathy, and compassion."

Sagarika Ghose claimed that the villages near the border were Jammu and Kashmir Those who have endured the greatest hardships came to convey that the people are not forgotten. They emphasized that the communities in border villages should not be “overlooked” and insisted these areas receive the focus and assistance they require for recovery and support.

A five-member delegation consisting of public figures from Bengal has arrived in Kashmir with the aim of showing support, compassion, and concern. Our visit focuses on the remote village areas near the border. Jammu and Kashmir have endured the greatest hardships... We have arrived to assure the villagers at the borders that they are not forgotten... This journey exemplifies our dedication to inclusivity India Where each resident’s requirements are addressed and supported. The peripheral communities should not be overlooked. They require the focus, assistance, and recovery resources they merit,” she stated to journalists in Srinagar.

A delegation comprising five members consisting of TMC Members of Parliament Derek O'Brien, Md Nadimul Haque, Sagarika Ghose , Mamata Banerjee, along with West Bengal minister Manas Bhunia, reached Srinagar and went to the residence of National Conference leader Farooqu Abdulla. They also had a meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

From May 21st to May 23rd, the delegation will travel to Srinagar, Poonch, and Rajouri to engage with individuals impacted by cross-border shelling from Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. India n Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir , leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.

After the attack, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir as well as attempted drone attacks along the border regions, following which India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centres and airfields across 11 airbases in Pakistan.

After this, on May 10, an understanding of the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced. (ANI)
